Peaceful Wolverine

About

I’m Gordon Edgar, and this is where I write for myself.

I am a journalist, a blogger, an essayist, a podcaster, and PeacefulWolverine — which is either a gamertag escaped into the wild or an accurate description of my temperament, depending on the day. The name stuck, and so did the animal: Wolverines are small, solitary, stubborn northern creatures that punch well above their weight. I’ll let you decide how much of that is autobiography.

This is home to the writing that doesn’t belong anywhere else — daily thoughts, spontaneous short stories, reflections, the occasional poem, a little news from the Saskatchewan prairie, and the ongoing misadventures of Wolverine and Badger. That last one is me and my teenage stepdaughter, known here as MeditativeBadger, getting ourselves killed in co-op horror games and living to write about it. Fact, fiction, history, imagination, and as much pathos as I can get away with.

If you’d prefer a more serious version of me, I also write and podcast Polite Disputes — calm, disciplined, evidence-first examinations of contested topics — under the name Allen Schyf, at allenschyf.com. Same person, different register. Gordon Edgar has opinions; Allen Schyf mostly just cares that everyone is getting their facts straight, to the end of having polite, productive conversations.

Stick around. There’s no schedule and no theme, which is rather the point. Just daily posts.
